Yep also in Victorian Britain they used vampirism as a metaphor for STI’s; because they made it a contagious disease that passed through blood exchange and had a lot of sexual undertones in it and ultimately ended in death.  Vampires were meant to be tales to frighten women of sex and demonize sexuality. This folklore was created to scare them into guarding their virginity more carefully.
