WHY WOULD YOU POST SOMETHING LIKE THIS???

He was an office boy. He got the coffee, he cleaned up the messes. But when it came down to it, Ianto did what he had to do. He fired a gun, he defended his friends and everything he thought was right. He was needed and he rose to the challenge. And his story is just all about courage and perseverance. And he’s so well played. Even when he learns to use a gun, you can see that he isn’t comfortable, the gun makes him nervous, he doesn’t like what he is doing- but he does it, to do his job. He sweats, he cries, he looks scared. He is honestly and beautifully drawn. He died in the line of service, he died doing what he may have not been comfortable doing, but what he knew he had to do. And I love him for it.

IANTO: Jack.
JACK: Ianto… Hey.. What’s wrong?
IANTO: You’ll have to put me in the vaults. Lock me up. I killed three girls. Strangled them.
JACK: Stop kidding around.
IANTO: I’m serious. I murdered them in cold blood. I took their bodies, and … You have to lock me away … before I turn on you. None of you are safe.
JACK: Hey, hey! Come here, come here. What’s happened to you?
IANTO: I’m a monster.

I loved Ianto’s twitchiness in this scene, the real Ianto’s mind fighting against the fake memories and trying to expel them. I thought that was really cool and I wonder if it was a decision by Gareth or a script direction.

↳ Torchwood 204 Meat: Jack/Ianto

Wow, I just stared at this set for a long while, and it hit me how it’s showing all the things I love and hate about their relationship. I feel like it all comes down to Ianto always standing there next to Jack. I just can’t imagine Jack without Ianto at his side, and maybe Jack couldn’t either, which could be why it feels like he took him for granted a lot of the time.

Which is why I wish we’d seen Jack after he left Wales before the end of CoE. Because I think in those six months, it really hit him that Ianto was no longer beside him and that Ianto was no longer there to anticipate his every move, to catch what was thrown to him, to help him into his coat.

As I live and breathe you have killed me; you have killed me. Yes, I walk around somehow but you have killed me; you have killed me. There is no point in saying this again. There is no point in saying this again but I forgive you. I forgive you always I do forgive you.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but the fact that Ianto said “It’s not men. It’s just him [Jack]” made their relationship feel even more extraordinary, more special, to me.
It was an unconditional love with no labels. It doesn’t matter that Ianto was sleeping with a man. Before that, he’d only been with women. He expresses no interest in other men during the series as far as we can see. It was just Jack - it was only Jack, and it would only ever be Jack.

But that’s just it, we don’t know if Ianto had never been with a man before. That was never stated in the show. And besides, even if Jack was the first man he’d actually slept with, that doesn’t negate his bisexuality. You don’t become straight or gay only once you sleep with someone, and the same goes for bisexuality.
It’s made very clear in the book Twighlight Streets that Ianto sees himself as bisexual and has for a long time. Plus, in season 2 he and Gwen share comments about the old Torchwood operatives (a man and a woman) being attractive. Even that little moment when he mentally considers Captain John’s offer of an orgy (joke or not) implies his sexual interest in more than women.
Look, I understand why people want to simplify this relationship to Ianto falling in love with Jack just because he’s Jack and that he somehow magically makes a same-sex relationship ok for Ianto where before it wouldn’t previously been. It makes it sound all special and magical. But to do so is naive and insulting to bisexual men. The capacity to love and be sexually attracted to a man had to have been already inside of Ianto. You don’t go through life 100% straight and then all of a sudden turn gay or bisexual because of one person.
Besides, according to Russell, Jack and Ianto were sleeping together long before they fell in love. In other words, Ianto was sexually attracted to and sexually responsive to Jack before any emotional attachment was involved. In other words, Ianto was bisexual. Jack does not have a magical penis that makes straight men forget their straight.

ALL OF THIS.Agreed! Just because you are sleeping with the same sex doesn’t make you gay. Nor does it make any of you’re past sexual encounters with the opposite sex less significant or true now that you’re with the same sex. Bisexuality exists and Bisexuals walk among us! There is more than just Gay or Straight. There is a lot of gray area in-between. Let’s not put people in boxes fictional or not.

Rhiannon: Susan on the corner was in town and it was her anniversary so they went to that posh french place in town by the memorial and there was you.

Ianto: So…

Rhiannon: There was you…having dinner…with a man.

Ianto: So?

Rhiannon: Having dinner with a man…in a restaurant.

Ianto: So you have dinner with Tina.

Rhiannon: Not in town. Susan said he was gorgeous. Like a film star. Like an escort.

Ianto: He’s my boss.

Rhiannon: She said it was intimate. I said well he’s had girlfriends, and she said, well no girl was getting her feet around that table. No chance! Have you gone bender?

Ianto: Misha’s hearing this.

Rhiannon: She’s not bothered. Her friend Shan’s got two mothers. Go on? You never tell me anything these days. Dad died that was it. You were off-you couldn’t wait. Like I did something wrong. I didn’t. Did I?

Ianto: It’s not that. It’s my job. It’s… difficult. It’s… He is very handsome.

Rhiannon: No?

Ianto: Now stop it.

Rhiannon: You’re kidding me? Really though? Really? Christ all mighty! He’s nice though, is he? Is he? Oh my…I mean, since when?

Ianto: It’s weird. It’s just different. It’s not men. It’s…it’s just him. It’s only him. And I don’t even know what it is really, so…so I’m not broadcasting it.

Owen: Let’s all have sex.

Ianto: And I thought the end of the world couldn’t get any worse.

beautiful.

beautiful.

Ianto: I know you get lonely.Jack: Going home wouldn’t fix that. Being here, I’ve seen things I never dreamt I’d see, loved people I never would have known if I’d stayed where I was… And I wouldn’t change that for the world.
