“There are things that U.S. soldiers are allowed to talk about with the press and others they are not. One of the things they are not allowed to voice is their political opinion, especially if it goes against their commander in chief. In the privacy of latrine stalls on military bases in Iraq and Kuwait, however, it is quite a different story. I did not see any pro-Bush writings in any of the hundreds of latrines I photographed.”

National Defense Authorization Act: Media Blackout

National Defense Authorization Act. Why are we not talking about this???

Senate moved Thursday to complete a massive defense bill that would deny suspected terrorists, even U.S. citizens seized within the nation’s borders, the right to trial and subject them to indefinite detention. This bill would authorize $662 billion budget for military personnel, weapons systems, national security programs all for a country if i remember correctly thats economic state is in crisis.

Republicans claim it is necessary effort to respond to an evolving, post-Sept. 11 threat, and that Obama has failed to produce a consistent policy on handling terror suspects. When will the fear-mongering stop. You cannot take away civil liberties in the name of ‘national security’. And Why has there been a near media blackout to a bill that could quite possibly change our entire country?

Reblog and get the word out. More people need to know about this and be vocal about their disapproval.
